On Saturday, September 19, more than 70 fathers and father-figures gathered at Fleischmann Pier for a morning of fishing and fun!

The event, a collaboration between the Peekskill City School District and Peekskill Youth Bureau, kicked off the new Father Factor initiative, which is focused on encouraging fathers and father-figures to be actively involved in their children’s lives and education.

Fishing poles and bait were provided, and families spent the morning casting lines and catching fish. Breakfast was served and lawn games were available to add to the fun.

While fishing was the focus of the event, the larger goal was simply to give fathers and children time together making memories. The Father Factor initiative will continue to offer opportunities for fathers and father-figures to connect throughout the school year.
